We will visit the capital of north east Slovenia with charming Lent along Drava river where one of the biggest festivals (Lent) in Europe is organised every summer. T

he region is also very famous for high quality wines which you can also taste either in Maribor, either in Ptuj-the oldest constantly settled town in Slovenia with very rich museum selection on the castle above the old town. Maribor is in 2012 also European capital of culture!

In the morning we will head towards Nort East part of Slovenia. First we will visit Maribor the second biggest town in Slovenia. Nicely set on the banks of Drava river, Maribor has lots to offer especialy to wine lovers. The town is proud to have the oldest vine in the world (over 400 years old) along with one of the biggest wine cellars in Europe – Vinag.

We will walk through the old town with Main square (Glavni trg) with plaque monument, Castle with castle square, Town hall, st. John the baptist cathedral and of course Lent – along Drava river. Visit of Vinag wine cellar with wine tasting of famous regional wines accompanied with some cold snacks.

After Maribor we will head towards Ptuj, one of the most beautiful towns in Slovenia with rich history from Roman and middle age times. Visit of the old town with Orpheus monument, Slovenian square, Minorite and Dominican monastery, Ptuj castle etc.

Near Ptuj in the middle of wineyards is picturesque village called Jeruzalem, famous for fine wines and fine dinning and spectacular sights.

In the late afternoon we will slowly return towards Ljubljana.
