The most distinctive feature of Slovenia 's largest city is its medieval hilltop Castle which offers a breathtaking panorama of the city together with excellent views of the old town and surrounding area. 3. DAY: Bled – Bohinj – Bled

Breakfast at hotel. Visiting Bohinj on the third day of the tour will be a completely different experience from what you had learned to know before. The majority of the villages, commonly recognized under the joint name Bohinj, lie on the outer border of the Triglav national park. Traditional peasant way of life can still be seen here and typical architecture can be admired. Remember to note the special »double« hayracks which are very characteristic for the region. After a 15-minute-walk we will reach waterfally Savica, the source of the Sava Bohinjka River and later have enough time to relax at the side of the peaceful Bohinj Lake. You could have lunch by the glacial Alpine lake in the Triglav National Park (supplement). Afternoon supplement activities: - Canoeing on the Bohinj lake - a ride by cable car up to the Mt Vogel (1600 m (5249 feet) high), and enjoy in beautiful scenery of the mountains and the valley with the lake. After a full day of »pure nature« we will return to Bled and spend the night in our hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Bled.

4. DAY: Bled - Kranjska Gora – pass Vršič – Trenta Valley – Bovec

Breakfast at hotel. We will have a long day in front of us. We will depart quite early and the first stop on our bus journey will be Kranjska Gora, a renowned winter resort and ski center, but also a trekking and mountaineering paradise during the summer. There we will start a scenic ride to pass Vršič, 1600 m high, from where we will be able to admire some of the highest mountain peaks of Slovenia. You could have also a snack in a cottage on the Vršič pass. Then we will pass the spring of the emerald Soča river and get to the Trenta valley. Be conscious of the climate here because it is totally different from what you had experienced the previous day in Bohinj, though you can see high mountains all around you. The valley is open towards the Adriatic sea and the warm Mediterranean breezes give this valley a very special character. We will arrive to Bovec, our final stop of this day, in the late afternoon and spend the night in a centrally located hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Bovec.

5.DAY: Bovec – Kobarid – Nova Gorica – Portorož

Breakfast at hotel. Since the smell of the Adriatic sea is already attracting us, we set off to the coast on the following morning. Our first stop is Kobarid, an interesting small town which holds the museum of the 1st world war. Superb multivision presentation takes us many decades back to the battle fields of the Soča front where we can follow the touching story of an Italian soldier. The museum whose main message is the curse of any war was rewarded by the Council of Europe in 1993. We follow the flow of the Soča river, pass Nova Gorica on the Italian border, cross the mysterious and beautiful Karst region and get to Portorož, the renowned tourist resort, in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Portorož.

6. DAY: Portorož – Piran – Sečovlje – Koper – Portorož

Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast and maybe an early stroll on the beach, we are inviting you to an excursion along the Slovene coast. First of all, we take a guided tour of one of the most charming towns in Slovenia, Piran. This old town with its narrow streets, beautiful Tartini square and the St. George's church which dominates the hill above the town, will nest in your heart for a long time. Afterwards, we'll visit the salt field’s museum in Sečovlje where during the »harvest« season you can still see how salt was traditionally picked here. On the tour we will visit also oil factory in town Koper and have degustation of olive oil. To round off the day we will visit a small wine cellar to sample and enjoy typical wines of the region. Return to Portorož is scheduled for a late afternoon but you will still have enough time to stroll along the promenade or along the beach and enjoy some »night life« afterwards. Your hotel room is still there for you. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Portorož.

7. DAY: Portorož – Postojna – Ljubljana

Breakfast at hotel. Our tour has almost ended, but we still hold some surprises and major attractions for you. We will leave Portorož and the coast after breakfast and head to the inland. The highlight of this last but one day in Slovenia is the Postojna cave, one of the world's biggest subterranean cave systems, open to the public. The visit of the cave will take 1,5 hours, mostly by train and you will be able to admire the most beautiful stalagmites and stalactites, the majority of them growing for millions of years. After getting back to »open-air« we will have short stop at the Predjama castle, which is practically carved in the rock and holds some interesting stories.
