HALF DAY TOUR: Škofja Loka
Departure by bus from Ljubljana in the morning or afternoon. After half an hour drive, arrival to Škofja Loka, one of the oldest and most picturesque Slovene towns with a perfectly preserved medieval centre, the former estates of the bishops of Freising. Walk through the narrow streets and squares with most interesting architecture. Crossing the “Devils Bridge” over a wild section of the river Sora. The town boasts with numerous art galleries and workshops. Škofja Loka used to be the centre of numerous sophisticated handicrafts, of which a few have survived. A woodcarver’s workshop will be visited to observe manufacturing of special moulds for baking of bread with honey. We will visit the medieval castle and its museum with vivid presentation of numerous handicrafts and development of the town and the region. There will be some time left to stroll in the streets, to have a snack or to taste an excellent local cake.
