1. DAY: Airport – Ljubljana

Arrival to Ljubljana International Airport, meet and welcome by Exoterra Adria representative/guide at the airport arrival lobby. Transfer from Airport Ljubljana to Ljubljana city (pick up on the other airports-at the extra charge). Accommodation in selected hotel and free time for relax and experience a little bit of the capital on your first evening in Slovenia. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ljubljana.


2. DAY: Ljubljana – Škofja Loka – Ljubljana

Breakfast at hotel. Departure to the city centre of Ljubljana and sight-seeing of it, the cultural, historical, academic, economic and political centre of Slovenia, by walking to through the streets and by taking a ride by a small tourist train to the castle above the city centre. Visit of the museum on the castle representing Ljubljana through the centuries. Ljubljana is located on the banks of the river Ljubljanica, under a medieval castle on a hill. It boasts with predominantly baroque architecture, but also an exquisite fin-de-siecle quarter. Numerous masterpieces of the famous Slovene architect Jožef Plečnik can be admired at every step. The banks of Ljubljanica, numerous squares, medieval streets and last but not least, the marketplace, a certainly worth a visit. The city is also a modern and lively one, due the important students' population. Time, too, to stroll in the streets or to enjoy a coffee. Lunch with local specialities in local restaurant in Ljubljana (supplement). In the afternoon, trip to Škofja Loka, one of the oldest and most picturesque Slovene towns with a perfectly preserved medieval centre, the former estates of the bishops of Freising. Walk through the narrow streets and squares with most interesting architecture. Crossing the “Devils Bridge” over a wild section of the river Sora. The town boasts with numerous art galleries and workshops. Škofja Loka used to be the centre of numerous sophisticated handicrafts, of which a few have survived. A woodcarver’s workshop will be visited to observe manufacturing of special moulds for baking of bread with honey. We will visit the medieval castle and its museum with vivid presentation of numerous handicrafts and development of the town and the region. There will be some time left to stroll in the streets, to have a snack or to taste an excellent local cake. Return to the hotel in Ljubljana. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ljubljana.


3. DAY: Ljubljana – Lake Cerknica – Rakov Škocjan – Postojna – Idrija – Ljubljana

Breakfast at hotel. A whole-day trip to the Karst region. We will stop at the intermittent lake of Cerknica, famous for its sudden changes of the water level and at the same time changes of the aspect of the surrounding countryside. Beautiful drive through the karstic natural park Rakov Škocjan, where the wild subterranean rive Rak has formed natural stone bridges and deep gorges. Visit of our world famous cave Postojnska jama. Ride by a small open train through the large subterranean halls decorated by stalagmites and stalactites and other karstic shapes. Afternoon visit to the town of Idrija, famous for its former quicksilver mine, which was discovered more than 500 years ago. Today the mine is transformed in a most interesting museum, authentically representing the miners' work and life and which we will also visit. The town is famous for manufacturing an original sort of white laces. The life of miners and their wives will be presented to us through the collections of the museum in the castle, after which the very manufacturing of laces will be shown to us in the Lace Manufacturing School, where it is also possible to buy the products. Between tours you will have also enough free time to walk around old center, drink a a well known alcoholic drink among miners was mugwort liqueur, locally known as geruš or eat typical local food called žlikrofi. After sightseeing transfer back to Ljubljana. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ljubljana.


4. DAY: Ljubljana – Ptuj – Ormož – Ljutomer – Mura river – Martjanci – Ljubljana  

Breakfast at hotel. We will spend the whole-day to the east of Slovenia where we will first explore the picturesque town of Ptuj (ancient Roman Poetovio) with its perfectly preserved medieval centre. Walk through the centre. From here on, we will drive through a patchwork of fields of maize, cabbage, pumpkins, sunflowers and vineyards on the hills around Ormož and Ljutomer. We will follow a broad plane on the banks of the river Mura. Its eastern side is called Prekmurje and is very different from the rest of Slovenia, due to its different historical development and also due to its geographical position in the Panonian plane . The broad river Mura gives the rhythm to the life of this most traditional agricultural country, where many ancient handicrafts have still survived. (potters, shoemakers, embroiders etc.) On some farms race horses are bred. At some location Mura can still be crossed (even by car) by the traditional ferry boats on a chain. A few watermills are still in function. On chimneys of tiny cottages and on electrical poles nests of storks can be found in every village. More than hundred pairs of storks return here every spring and leave for the south in autumn. You could have lunch with typical local dishes (supplement). We will also cross the river Mura by a chained ferry boat, visit also floating mill on Mura and famous gothic church St. Martin in the village Martjanci with frescoes from the 14th century. On the back return to Ljubljana we will also taste typical local wine in local wine cellar. Transfer back to Ljubljana. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ljubljana.


5. DAY: Ljubljana – Kranjska Gora – Bled – Ljubljana

Breakfast at hotel. Morning drive to Gorenjska, the Alpine region of Slovenia. We will stop at the ski resort Kranjska Gora, under the ski slopes where World Cup races are held, where we will admire the Planica ski-jumps, where the world record of 100 m, and also of 200 m were bitten. A winding alpine road will take us to the Vršič Pass (1611 m), on the border between the Julian Alps and the Soča valley This is the starting point of numerous alpine paths and climbing destinations. Stunning views of the Julian Alps and their valleys and of the Karavanke mountain chain in the north can be enjoyed. We will have a snack in a cottage on the Vršič pass. On the way back a short visit of Bled, undoubtedly the most famous tourist centre of Slovenia. Its crystalline blue lake with an island in the middle and a Romanesque church on it, as well as its castle on a steep rock above the lake make it most romantic. Beautiful drive around the lake to enjoy marvellous views. If there will be enough time you could take a boat ride to the island in the middle of the lake Bled (supplement). After sightseeing we will drive back to Ljubljana. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ljubljana.


6. DAY: Ljubljana – airport

Breakfast at hotel. Free time till departure to the airport. Transfer to the airport of Ljubljana (or any other airport at extra charge).
